Batavia works with a small number of houses and independent designers each year — producing under private label, collaborating on signature pieces, and accepting private commissions from clients with a clear brief in mind.

For boutiques and design houses.

We produce under your label, to your specification, in python leather drawn from the same CITES-certified sources we use for our own pieces. Minimum order quantities are small by industry standard — we prefer to work closely on a considered range rather than at volume.

Typical engagements begin with a conversation, proceed to sample, and continue as a standing relationship. We ship worldwide with full export documentation.

For private commissions.

Existing pieces can be reproduced in alternate colours or materials. New pieces can be developed from a brief — a silhouette, a reference, a specific use. The atelier will advise on what is possible and what the material will allow.

All commissions carry the full provenance of our standard work: CITES certification, export documentation, and a certificate specific to the piece.

What we require.

• A clear brief or reference, in writing or by sketch.
• Destination country, for export documentation.
• Intended use: personal, retail, or private-label production.
• Timeline — commissions typically take four to eight weeks from approval.

On exclusivity.

We do not take every commission that reaches us. The atelier is small, and the material is too considered to be produced at a pace that compromises it. When we agree to work together, we commit to the piece — and we ask the same in return.
