Batavia Exotic Leather is a Jakarta workshop for exotic leather, almost all of it python. We make every piece by hand, one at a time, for brands and for individual buyers.
Our python leather workshop in Jakarta
We started as a home workshop in Jakarta, and we still are one. Every piece is cut and stitched by hand, one at a time, by our artisans.
The same workshop makes a brand's private-label run and a single bag for one customer. Both are made the same way.
One craft: exotic leather
We make exotic leather goods and nothing else, and almost all of them are python. The one exception is the Batavia Raja Lizard Leather Men's Wallet. Every python skin is cut with the scales aligned, and every piece is stitched entirely by hand.
The collection has 22 named bags, from totes and shoulder bags to clutches and travel bags, and nine small leather goods, from a men's belt and string bracelets to an eyewear case, a sunglass chain pouch and a lanyard. We work in 30+ colors and finishes, and we also make pieces to order from a design of your own.
No skin without CITES documents
No skin enters the workshop without verified CITES documentation. We source only from licensed, traceable Indonesian suppliers, and CITES documents go out with every shipment.
CITES is an international agreement between governments that regulates trade in listed wild species. The python species used for leather are generally listed in its Appendix II. Species in Appendix II can cross borders only with export permits, which are meant to show the skins were sourced legally and sustainably. Some countries and states restrict the import or sale of exotic leather, so please check your local rules before you order.
Who we make for
We make for designers, boutiques and brands worldwide. They can take pieces from the collection ready to sell, or come to us for private label or OEM production to their own specs. MOQs are flexible and agreed per project.
We also make for individual buyers. If you want one bag for yourself, message us on WhatsApp about the piece and the finish you have in mind. We ship worldwide from Jakarta with CITES documentation included, and manufacturing defects are repaired free of charge at our Jakarta workshop.
Where our name comes from
Batavia was the old name of Jakarta. We take our name from the city where every piece is made.
